Inari wilderness 1564

The Inari Wilderness permit area covers extensive stretches of land around the municipality of Inari. The region contains both easily accessible destinations for families and true wilderness destinations for those seeking peace and tranquillity, far removed from roads and traffic noise. For peace and plentiful fish catches, head over to the wilderness areas of Vätsäri, Sarmi and Hammastunturi Fell, to name a few. The area around Muotkatunturi Fell also offers great surroundings for fishing trips. Grayling, trout and char are popular target species in the area but you can also catch other fish typical of the region: whitefish, pike and perch.

For anglers looking to catch grayling, we recommend Lake Harrijärvi, which is situated north of the Näätämöjoki River, and Lake Mellalompolo, which can be found in the Vätsäri wilderness area north-east of Lake Inarijärvi. One can also find excellent char fishing waters in Vätsäri, and the lakes Tuulijärvi, Äälisjärvi, Vainosjärvi, Pahtareikäjärvi and Iso Rovijärvi also offer handsome grayling and trout. In the summertime these places can be reached either by foot or by air taxi. Waters with planted char stocks can also be found in the vicinity of Lake Sevettijärvi. Iijärvi, Muddusjärvi, Paadarjärvi, Nangujärvi, Sevettijärvi and Rahajärvi are the area's most popular large lakes among trolling enthusiasts.

Note! The permit area has changed. As of the beginning of 2017, the Rivers Sotajoki, Tolosjoki and Repojoki (Permit area 1567), Kielajoki and Kaamasjoki (Permit area 1583) and Vaskojoki (Permit area 1578) are no longer part of the Inari wilderness permit area.
