Pond waters in the municipality of Sievi in Northern Ostrobothnia that offer great opportunities for fly fishing enthusiasts and other recreational anglers. Maasydänjärvi is a full-service angling destination for many kinds of fishing and it is located next to a camping area. Fishing at Ahvenlampi is a more rugged experience in the quiet wilderness where the exhilaration of fly fishing can truly be felt. Catch-sized rainbow trout is planted into these ponds in the summer and anglers might also run into a whitefish or two.
All persons under 18 years of age receive a 50% discount on the permits and persons under 15
years of age are allowed to share the same fishing quota, with permission from their parent or
legal guardian. The family permit costs twice as much and its fishing quota is twice as large.
You can buy licences directly from the online store and pay using the
most common payment methods.
Metsähallitus' fishing licences may also be purchased by phone. The service is open on
weekdays from 9 AM to 4 PM.

You can order your fishing licence by phone from the automated number. Simply dial the
number for the licence you want and enter the four digitnumber of the desired fishing
destination. The call must be made from a Finnish mobile subscription.

Once you have finished fishing, you must submit a catch report at www.tuikki.fi. All caught and released fish must also be reported.
Lures allowed at Maasydänjärvi: lure, fly, pilk and hook & line. Each angler is permitted to use one rod or line when fishing from the shore, anchored boat or the ice. The rod must be within the angler's reach at all times (= max. 2 metres away from the angler). When trolling without a motor, anglers are permitted to use two rods per angler.
The use of a boat or flotation device is permitted in Maasydänjärvi. However, the use of an outboard motor is prohibited (including electric outboard motors).
In the summer, traditional fly fishing from the shore is the only allowed fishing method at Ahvenlampi. Ice fishing without the use of bait paste is all owed in winter time.
The right to fish in Maasydänjärvi or Ahvenlampi is not included in the Metsähallitus Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu (5411) angling permit, the national fisheries management fee or every man's fishing rights (the rights to hook and line fishing and ice fishing); you need this specific permit to fish in these waters.

Maasydänjärvi is located in the Maasydän tourism area along the Sievi-Reisjärvi road, approximately 30 km outside of the town of Sievi. Anglers are sure to appreciate the pond's casting piers, campfire sites, lean-to shelter and smoking station.
