Metsähallitus offers fishers access to thousands of water areas. The income from selling licences is used in reconditioning natural habitats and in making fry stockings, which are designed based on catch feedback.

Metsähallitus has 123 destinations for which it is possible to get hunting license for small game. For fishers there are 60 recreational fishing destinations. Also there are for example elk hunting destinations that are always applied for in January.
