Fishing permit areas renewed: learn about the changes
At the turn of the year, five large angling permit areas were redistributed into 52 new permit areas. In addition, the boundaries of trap fishing permit areas were revised.

The Selkälahti and Keimiöjärvi rental huts will be withdrawn from use from the beginning of 2027. The sites can be booked in the Eräluvat.fi service until 31 December 2026.

Bookings of rental and shared rental huts, as well as other sites available for booking for 2027, will open on Tuesday May 5th 2026 at 9:00am on Eraluvat.fi.

There may be inaccuracies in the map windows and PDF maps of angling permit areas located in Enontekiö, Inari and Utsjoki, and the permit areas are not shown correctly in all respects. The errors will be corrected during May.

The hut sales and customer service of Metsähallitus Wildlife & Parks will be exceptionally closed April 27 and May 20.-21. At other times, customer service is open on weekdays from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Metsähallitus ended the stocking of rainbow trout in Lake Matildanjärvi, located in Teijo National Park, at the end of 2025. However, the sale of fishing permits and supervision has continued as usual until the end of March 2026. Starting from April 2026, fishing at Matildanjärvi will be allowed under general fishing rights, meaning hook and line fishing, ice fishing, and fishing with one rod and lure (e.g. spinning) after paying the fisheries management fee. In the future, fishing will be based on the lake’s natural fish stocks.

The terms of reservation for short-term rental facilities managed by Parks & Wildlife Finland (including reservable and rental huts, bookable saunas and cooking shelters) are being updated. The new terms of reservation will come into force on Tuesday, 24 March 2026. They apply to all existing bookings.

Local residents will in the future be able to purchase their river fishing permit directly through the Eräluvat.fi service. Until now, residents of Enontekiö, Utsjoki and Inari have had to order the permit by phone or at a service point.
