Huts
In Metsähallitus’ destinations there are both free and chargeable huts where hikers can rest and stay overnight. In addition to the huts, other rest areas include, among others, lean-to shelters, tent sites, and cooking shelters.
All of Metsähallitus’ free and chargeable rest areas can be found in the Luontoon.fi service. The service also includes rest areas maintained by other parties. Metsähallitus’ shared rental huts and rental huts as well as other chargeable rest areas are reserved in the Eräluvat.fi service.
Rest areas are located both near cities and in the heart of the wilderness. Some destinations are difficult to access and outside the marked trails. Check the destination information and choose a destination according to your skill level before heading out. Also remember to check the current news of the area in the Luontoon.fi service.
When a company regularly takes its customers to destinations with hiking infrastructure maintained by Metsähallitus, it must have a cooperation agreement. Read more in the information bank for entrepreneurs.
