Bookings for rental huts for 2027 open on May 5th at Eraluvat.fi
Bookings of rental and shared rental huts, as well as other sites available for booking for 2027, will open on Tuesday May 5th 2026 at 9:00am on Eraluvat.fi.
Pitkäjärvi rental hut (2 rooms and a kitchen) is modest in standard, a beautiful old forest workers’ hut preserved in nearly its original condition. The weathered log cabin is located in a nature reserve in the central part of Seitseminen National Park, on the shore of Lake Pitkäjärvi.
The yard is natural and rugged, with impressive old trees. Footpaths lead from the yard to the sauna and the toilet. There are steps between the sauna and the lakeshore. Near the sauna, there is a designated campfire site. A hiking trail runs along the edge of the yard.
The rental hut is an overnight accommodation that is rented entirely for private use.
Make all reservations under the same order if you book several huts or other sites for the same trip. According to the reservation terms, the minimum refundable amount per order is €30.
Make reservations under separate orders if you book huts or other sites for several different trips. Managing separate reservations is easier, and you will receive a separate due date for each one, 14 days before the start of the reservation.
The reservation day for shared rental huts, rental huts and other rental structures begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.
Keep the order confirmation of your paid reservation with you. Check the information related to keys in the "Keys" section (located halfway down the page).
By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.
When a company regularly takes its customers to destinations with hiking infrastructure maintained by Metsähallitus, it must have a cooperation agreement. Read more in the information bank for entrepreneurs.

From the Kuru–Parkano road (no. 332), turn south at the signpost marked "Pitkäjärvi 6". The distance from the Seitseminen Nature Centre to the Pitkäjärvi signpost is approximately 4 km. At the end of the road, you’ll find a parking area and a locked gate leading to the Pitkäjärvi cabin.
From the gate, it’s a 150-meter walk to the cabin.
The road is not ploughed in winter.
The nearest bus stops to the national park are located in the centres of Kuru (26 km) and Parkano (20 km). Both towns have taxi stations.
For more information about the area and detailed arrival instructions, visit Luontoon.fi.
Wood-heated sauna, campfire site, suction-emptied dry toilet, pier, and a cold storage pit in the front yard.
The campfire site in the yard is exclusively for the use of renters. Firewood is available in the woodshed.
At the edge of the yard, there is a hiking trail, along which the suction-emptied dry toilet and well are available for general use by hikers.
Camping in the yard is prohibited.
The key is in a key code box on the site's wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
The hut is heated using the fireplaces in the rooms, a wood-burning stove, and a stove-heater in the main room. Firewood for heating the hut is available in the main room. Please use firewood sparingly. Note that heating the cabin takes time.
There is no electricity in the hut. We recommend using a headlamp, which keeps your hands free for tasks inside the cabin. For safety reasons, burn candles only on non-flammable surfaces and never leave them unattended.
The kitchen includes a wood-burning stove (no oven), a gas burner, and tableware and kitchen equipment for 14 people.
There is no running water in the hut.
Water from the Pitkäjärvi well meets the requirements for domestic water quality, but it contains manganese and iron above recommended levels.
The bunk beds have mattresses, pillows, and duvets with protective covers. There are 4 sleeping places in the smaller room and 10 beds in the large main room.
Please bring your own bed linen or sleeping bag, and a towel.
There is a wood-heated sauna in the yard.
There is a toilet with suction emptying. Putting leftovers or litter into the toilet is prohibited.
Please bring your own toilet paper.
There are no waste containers by the site. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (luontoon.fi).
Pets are allowed in the cabin. However, pets must be kept on a leash, even in the yard area, in accordance with national park regulations.
Smoking indoors is prohibited.
The cabin does not have accessible services.
Please clean the cabin before you leave.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
Huts are equipped with smoke detectors, but we recommend that you bring your own smoke detector. An increasing number of huts have smoke detectors with long-life batteries that cannot be replaced by visitors. The battery is replaced by the hut maintenance staff.
Each user of the site is responsible for keeping the site clean. The site does not have regular maintenance.
Please note that Metsähallitus sites are wilderness‑like and modest, and the indoor areas may contain, for example, insects, rodents, and their droppings.
