Terms of reservation for huts

Terms of reservation for short-term rental properties of Metsähallitus, Parks & Wildlife Finland

The Terms of reservation for short-term rental properties of Metsähallitus, Parks & Wildlife Finland (hereinafter Parks & Wildlife Finland) enter into force on 24.3.2026 and are valid until further notice. They replace the Terms of reservation that entered into force on 5 May 2025.

1. Applicability

These Terms of reservation apply to the contractual relationship between the Customer and Parks & Wildlife Finland regarding the booking and use of short-term rental properties. Short-term rental properties include shared rental huts, rental huts, rental turf huts, rental shelters, rental campfire huts, saunas, reservable tent sites, reservable day-use huts, group camps and reservable cooking shelters.

A rental property can be reserved in the Eräluvat.fi online service or through the Parks & Wildlife Finland customer service (hereinafter customer service). In these Terms of reservation, booking refers to an order for which an order number is issued. A booking will be regarded as a single booking even if it includes reservations made for several different rental properties and for a longer period of time. The Terms of reservation enter into force as soon as the booking has been confirmed and the Customer has received the order confirmation. The booking can be paid using a payment link or by invoice.

Parks & Wildlife Finland reserves the right to update and change these Terms of reservation. The Terms of reservation valid at any given time always apply to the contractual relationship between Parks & Wildlife Finland and the Customer. Parks & Wildlife Finland will notify the Customer without delay of any updates or changes to the Terms of reservation.

If the Terms of reservation are updated or changed after the Customer has made their booking, Parks & Wildlife Finland will notify the customer of the changes by email. The Customer has 14 days from the notification to cancel their booking free of charge if they do not accept the new terms.

2. Acceptance

By making a booking, the Customer confirms that they have read these Terms of reservation and accept them. In addition to these Terms of reservation, the Customer accepts Section A. General permit terms in the Terms of purchase and cancellation of the Eräluvat.fi service.

The General permit terms apply to the following matters: placing an order and accepting the terms, paying for the order, collection of charges, restrictions related to the operation of the online service, payment broker details, and the registration, processing and disclosure of personal data.

The Customer placing the order must be 18 years or over.

3. Changing or cancellation of a booking

It is possible to change or cancel an order in accordance with these terms.

Customer service must be notified of any changes and cancellations in writing. A change or cancellation will be deemed as having been received when the message is available to Metsähallitus during the opening hours of the customer service in a manner that enables its processing. If the information has been received by Metsähallitus customer service after opening hours, the cancellation will be regarded as having been received on the next working day.

The contact information for customer service is provided at the end of these Terms of reservation.

3.1 Changing a booking

3.1.1 Changing an unpaid booking

A booking that has not yet been paid for can be changed on the due date at the latest. A processing fee of EUR 15 is charged for the change. The change must be made through customer service.

3.1.2 Changing a paid booking

A paid booking cannot be changed or transferred. See section 3.2.2. Cancellation of a paid booking.

3.2 Cancellation of a booking

3.2.1 Cancellation of an unpaid booking

A customer who has logged in can cancel their booking in the Eräluvat.fi online service at no cost.

Bookings being paid by invoice or a payment link can be cancelled at no cost by contacting customer service on the due date at the latest.

Failure to pay for the booking is not considered a cancellation. If the invoice has not been paid despite a reminder sent to the Customer, the invoice will be transferred to a collection agency.

A payment link booking will be cancelled automatically without any additional costs if it is not paid by the due date.

3.2.2 Cancellation of a paid booking

The Customer can cancel a booking that has been paid for no later than 14 days before the start date of the booking by contacting the customer service, after which the money will be refunded. When a booking is cancelled, the minimum refundable amount is EUR 30.

If the Customer cancels a paid booking less than 14 days before the start date of the booking, the Customer's payment will only be refunded in cases where the cancellation is due to sudden illness, accident or death of the Customer or their family member. Weather conditions do not entitle the Customer to a refund. In case of an illness or an accident, a medical certificate must be sent within 14 days of the cancellation as an encrypted message according to the instructions provided by customer service. When a booking is cancelled, the minimum refundable amount is EUR 30.

If a booking is cancelled due to the reasons listed above during the actual booking period, the booking fee will not be refunded.

4. Parks and Wildlife Finland's right to cancel a booking

Parks & Wildlife Finland may cancel the booking in a case of force majeure. In this case, the customer will receive a full refund of the booking fee. The customer will not be reimbursed for any other costs that they may have incurred due to the cancelled booking.

Parks & Wildlife Finland reserves the right to cancel a Customer's booking if the Customer in question has, when making previous bookings, not complied with the instructions given for the rental properties, or otherwise violated the contract on the use of rental properties. In this case, the customer will receive a full refund of the booking fee.

5. Keys

After paying for the booking, the customer will receive a new order confirmation by e-mail with any necessary instructions related to the keys for the property. The customer must follow the instructions for using the key box and key issued with the order confirmation.

The actual costs of neglecting or failing to comply with the instructions related to the keys will be charged. However, the minimum fee will be least EUR 150. Examples of negligence include taking the key when leaving the property, damaging the key box, or changing the key box code.

6. Staying at the rental property

The customer must check the condition of the rental property immediately upon arrival and report any deficiencies or faults to customer service without delay. The contact information for customer service is provided at the end of these Terms of reservation.

During their stay at the rental property, the customer has the right to use the equipment of the rental property they have booked, the beds specified in their booking, or any other facilities they have booked. The customer must bring the booking confirmation to prove that they have made and paid for the booking. The customer must be prepared to show the booking confirmation to Metsähallitus staff or the supervisory authorities.

In shared huts, consideration must be shown towards other users, and silence must be observed between 23:00 and 6:00. The Customer is responsible for keeping the rental property and its outside areas tidy for their part. There are not usually any service visits to rental properties between bookings. The Customer has a duty to carry their waste away from the rental property. Smoking and disruptive use of other intoxicants at rental properties is strictly prohibited. Each rental property has its specific rules regarding pets. If the rental property is left untidy, Parks & Wildlife Finland has the right to clean the property after the Customer’s stay and invoice the Customer for the costs of the extra cleaning.

The rental period usually starts at 14:00 pm and ends at 12:00. Exceptional rental periods apply to some properties, and this information is always provided for the property in question.

7. Customer’s liability for damage

The Customer is obliged to notify customer service without delay of any damage they have caused to the property, its movable property or its outdoor areas. The Customer is liable to compensate Parks & Wildlife Finland for any losses caused by the Customer.

8. Other points

A certain accommodation capacity expressed as the number of beds that may not be exceeded is given for the rental property on the website.

Metsähallitus is not liable to compensate the Customer for any nuisance or damage caused by natural conditions such as insects, voles and mice or unexpected weather conditions.

Travel insurance is recommended for customers in case of any exceptional situations and cases.

9. Disputes and their resolution

An effort will be made to resolve any disputes between the parties concerning the contract by means of negotiations. If the customer and Metsähallitus cannot reach an understanding, the customer may contact the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (kkv.fi). Should they wish, the Customer may refer the case to the Consumer Disputes Board for processing. Any disputes related to the contract will ultimately be resolved by District Court of Itä-Uusimaa.
