Reservations

Tips for a smooth booking

  • Make all reservations under the same order if you book several huts or other sites for the same trip. According to the reservation terms, the minimum refundable amount per order is €30.

  • Make reservations under separate orders if you book huts or other sites for several different trips. Managing separate reservations is easier, and you will receive a separate due date for each one, 14 days before the start of the reservation.

Notes for all bookers

  • The reservation day for shared rental huts, rental huts and other rental structures begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.

  • Keep the order confirmation of your paid reservation with you. Check the information related to keys in the "Keys" section (located halfway down the page).

  • By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).

Notes for corporate customers

  • A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.

  • When a company regularly takes its customers to destinations with hiking infrastructure maintained by Metsähallitus, it must have a cooperation agreement. Read more in the information bank for entrepreneurs.

Kortesalo can also be reached via trails, with a walking distance of about 10-15 km depending on the route. The trails start from the Seitseminen Nature Centre.

Driving Directions

From the Kuru - Parkano road (No. 332), turn south from the village of Länsi-Aure following the signs for Seitseminen National Park. From the junction, it is 7 km to the Kovero Crown Forest Croft, after which you turn left. Drive about 1 km along Jaulintie. There is a wooden sign for the rental cottage from the road.

Explore the area and find more detailed arrival instructions on Luontoon.fi.

Yard

  • Sauna, cellar, fire pit, vacuum toilet.

  • The fire pit in the yard is for the exclusive use of renters.

  • There is an additional room at the end of the outbuilding (with its own entrance) that is not available for renters.

  • Renters can also set up a tent in the cottage yard.

  • The nearest swimming spot is at Kirkaslampi, 2.5 km away. There is a pier and steps, but no official beach.

Keys

  • The key is in a key code box on the site's wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.

  • Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.

Facilities

Heating and lighting

  • Kortesalo is heated by a fireplace and a stove.

  • Use firewood sparingly. Please note that heating the cottage takes time.

  • The classroom and lounge in the outbuilding cannot be heated. The fireplaces in the building are out of use.

  • There is no electricity at the cottage. We recommend a headlamp, which leaves your hands free for cottage chores. For safety reasons, burn candles on a non-flammable surface and supervise them at all times.

Cooking

  • Wood stove, gas stove, and oven.

  • The kitchen equipment includes tableware for 26 people and cooking utensils.

  • There is a cellar pit located at the corner of the house on the kitchen side. The cellar pit may not stay cool enough during the summer.

Drinking water

  • There is no running water in the cottage.

  • Drinking water can be obtained from the pump well in the cottage yard.

Staying overnight

  • The bunk beds in the main building have mattresses, blankets, and pillows.

  • There are two benches in the fireplace room of the outbuilding.

  • Bring your own sheets or sleeping bag and towel.

Sauna

  • Sauna in the outbuilding.

Toilet

There is a toilet with suction emptying. Putting leftovers or litter into the toilet is prohibited.

Please bring your own toilet paper.

Waste disposal

There are no waste containers by the site. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.

Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (luontoon.fi).

Other things to keep in mind

  • Various functional guided tours and handicrafts are available for groups. Ask for more information from the area's partner entrepreneurs.

  • The cottage does not have accessible services.

  • Please clean the cottage before you leave.

Safety

  • There may be blind spots in mobile networks in hiking destinations. In such situations, moving to a higher, open area may help. Check the coverage of the mobile network with your operator before heading out.

  • Huts are equipped with smoke detectors, but we recommend that you bring your own smoke detector. An increasing number of huts have smoke detectors with long-life batteries that cannot be replaced by visitors. The battery is replaced by the hut maintenance staff.
