The Elimo-Kitsi-Piilo hunting area is the largest of Metsähallitus’ hunting areas in Southern Finland. Elimo-Kitsi-Piilo, located in the area of the city of Lieksa and the municipality of Ilomantsi, is one of the most popular hunting areas in North Karelia year after year, together with the hunting area of Ilomantsi. Small game hunters primarily seek grouse in the area, but the area is also popular with the Canadian beaver hunters.
There are hills, rivers, lakes, fens, drained mires and open mires in the area. The area is mostly in forestry use, but there are also more untouched areas. In the southern part of the permit area is the Kissansuo-Raanisuo-Tohlinsuo Mire Reserve, which is one of the most popular hunting destinations in the area. The southwest corner of the hunting area borders Patvinsuo National Park.
All large predators are regularly found in the area.
The hunting area includes Nature Conservation Areas where hunting is restricted. For more information, see the section "Keep in mind in this area" on this page.
