2007 Tengeliönjoki, state-owned waters

The permit area includes state-owned water areas located within the Tengeliönjoki fisheries area. The Tengeliönjoki River and other running waters are not included in the trap permit area. The jewel of the Arctic Circle, Lake Miekojärvi, is probably the most famous of the region’s lakes.

Targeted catch: Burbot, cyprinids, grayling, perch, pike-perch, trout, vendace, whitefish
Special features of the area: The latitude line 67°00’N passes through the permit area – fishers must take this into account.

Permits needed for fishing

Trap fishing in this permit area always requires a trap permit. You will also be required to pay the fisheries management fee, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or are 65 years of age or older as of 31 December 2023.

The trap permit for this area only entitles you to fish waters specified in the water area directory and marked in the map window on this page. Services in the area

The largest lakes in the area have boat launching sites. Boat launching sites can be found at Miekojärvi in Sirkkakoski, Pessalompolo and Karhumaa, and at Raanujärvi in Joonanlahti and Vietonen.
