Fishing permits for 2027
Starts 15.12.2026 09:00
Ends 31.12.2027 23:59
With a few exceptions, Metsähallitus angling and trap fishing permits will go on sale on 15 December 2026. An angling permit allows you to fish with a lure or fly, or by ice fishing or hook and line fishing, depending on the terms and conditions of the permit area. For example, you need an angling permit when fishing with a spinning rod. A trap permit allows you to fish using traps such as fish traps or nets.
Permits can be purchased from the Eräluvat.fi service, by calling the customer service at +358 20 69 2424 (Mon–Fri 9 am–3 pm), and from local permit sales points. You can find information about any local sales points on the individual page for each permit area.
The angling and trap permit areas were renewed at the beginning of 2026, when Metsähallitus’ large fishing permit areas were redrawn to follow the boundaries of fisheries management areas. Permit areas previously named mainly after the municipality in which they were located can now be found under the name of the relevant fisheries management area. Many smaller permit areas, such as individual lakes, rivers and rapids, remained unchanged.
You can filter destinations by location, permitted fishing methods and targeted catch, for example.
