Free fishing permit for the residents of Enontekiö, Inari and Utsjoki

Residents of the municipalities of Enontekiö, Inari and Utsjoki can obtain a free fishing permit which entitles the holder to fish with a rod or a trap in state-owned water areas, except for the salmon and trout migration areas. There are no permit quotas, which means that all residents can obtain the free permit. The municipality of residence is determined in accordance with the Municipality of Residence Act (finlex.fi). Note: The permit terms have changed as of the beginning of 2026. Please review the permit terms carefully.

You will also be required to pay the fisheries management fee, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or are 65 years of age or older as of 31 December 2023.

For the migration areas, there is a separate angling permit for rivers available.
