Rental huts

Metsähallitus has over 100 rental and shared rental huts located throughout Finland, especially near national parks and hiking areas. 

Shared rental hut

Ensure a place to sleep by booking a shared rental hut. In a shared rental hut, you can book a bed for one or two nights against payment. Familiar and unfamiliar faces can spend the night together. Shared rental huts can only be booked for a night or two. Pets are not allowed in shared rental huts. Guide dogs and assistance dogs have the legal right to go everywhere, including in huts.

Rental hut

You can book an entire rental hut for your group. A rental hut is a place for an overnight stay that can be rented for only your use. The hut may be fully rented for one or several nights at a time, up to a maximum of one week. In some rental huts pets are allowed. Booking a hut, keys, and other information

Shared rental huts and rental huts are booked through the booking calendar on the hut’s destination page.

A person who has booked a bed in a shared rental hut or rented a rental hut receives a hut key against a fee. More detailed information about keys can be found on each hut’s destination page.

Shared rental huts and rental huts are modest accommodation facilities, and their cleanliness is always the responsibility of the users. The equipment of the huts includes sleeping platforms, a table, benches, cooking utensils, a stove, often a gas cooker, as well as a dry toilet. Firewood and an axe are available for the hiker’s use. In addition, the huts may have mattresses, blankets, and pillows. More detailed information about the equipment of each hut can be found on the hut’s destination page.
