The permit area of Vikaköngäs is situated along the E 75 highway, 25 km north of Rovaniemi. The permit area consists of approximately 3 kilometres of the Raudanjoki River downstream from Lake Vikajärvi. Vikaköngäs is a part of the Arctic Circle Hiking Area, which offers comprehensive services, including hiking trails and campfire sites. A trail connects Vikaköngäs to Vaattunkiköngäs in the south.
A white-water kayaking course has been built 200 metres upstream of the suspension bridge. This course entails steel pillars on either side of the rapids and steel wires connecting the pillars together. When the course is set up, it makes fishing in the area more difficult.
