Angling permit area

2565 Vikaköngäs

The permit area of Vikaköngäs is situated in the Arctic Circle Hiking Area, along the E 75 highway, 25 km north of Rovaniemi. The permit area consists of approximately 3 kilometres of the Raudanjoki River downstream from Lake Vikajärvi. The Arctic Circle Hiking Area offers comprehensive services, including hiking trails and campfire sites. A trail connects Vikaköngäs to Vaattunkiköngäs in the south. The area also has accessible hiking structures, such as a fishing pier.

A white-water kayaking course has been built 200 metres upstream of the suspension bridge. This course entails steel pillars on either side of the rapids and steel wires connecting the pillars together. When the course is set up, it can make fishing more difficult in some parts of the permit area. In the summer of 2025, the kayaking course will exceptionally be in place starting from May.
