The middle course of River Iijoki 5573
This permit covers the running and quiet waters and rapids of the middle course of the river Iijoki from Koivukoski to the Ervasti Bridge. The total length of the permit area is 53.5 km.
The most common catches in the area are sizable grayling and trout. The most common catch in the quiet sections is pike. The rapids in the middle section of Iijoki are great for fly fishing for grayling, for example. There are several lean-to shelters and campfire sites in the area and anglers may also catch a breather at the Räpättävänkoski hut. The river's fish stock is managed with fry plantings of trout and grayling.
Fly fishing Finnish Championships are held in the Iijoki River area. During 31 July 6:00 AM–1 August 6:00 PM the following areas are reserved for competitors:
The competion does not affect fishing in other parts of the permit area.

Purchasing a permit
In the middle course of river Iijoki angling permit area, the customer can choose between a validity period of 24 hours, 7 days or the entire season. The prices of angling permits are as follows:

Persons under 18 years of age can buy the angling permit at half price.
Persons under 15 years of age may fish under the angling permit and within the fishing quota of an adult belonging to the same party, without needing to purchase an angling permit of their own.
A family may purchase a family permit, which costs twice as much and has a fishing quota twice as large as an individual angling permit. A family consists of children under 18 years of age and their parents or legal guardians as well as married and common-law couples.

Metsähallitus' fishing permits may also be purchased by phone. The service is open on
weekdays from 9 AM to 4 PM.

As of 1 January 2020, mobile permits are no longer available. This is due to mobile network operator’s decision not to provide the current service anymore.

Water areas and regional restrictions that are included in this angling permit
The middle course of river Iijoki angling permit area covers the waters between Jurmu and Ervasti owned by Metsähallitus and the Jurmu II, Lassiniemi, Jurmu IV, Kellolampi, Pintamo, and Korentojärvi joint ownership associations.
At Jurmukoski rapids there is a 650 metres long private water area on the western bank that extends halfway across the river that is not a part of the permit area.
Furthermore, the following water areas are protected:
- Lapinkoski-Honkakoski, about 300 m
- Tipparinne, about 600 m
- Räpättävä,about 550 m

What does the permit entitle the holder to
The middle course of river Iijoki angling permit 5573 grants the right for lure fishing with lure and fly.
Hook and line fishing and ice fishing are prohibited in rapids and running waters where there are migratory fish routes, regardless of whether you have an angling permit or not.
Purchasing other Metsähallitus' angling permits does not entitle you to fish in this permit area.
The use of a boat or canoe for fishing is permitted. The use of an outboard motor is only permitted in the quiet sections of the river.
Catch quotas and catch reports
Catching more than two (2) trouts or five (5) graylings during a 24-hour period is prohibited in this permit area.
There is no catch quota limit for other fish species.
