River Livojoki 2599

A wilderness river rich in grayling and trout for fly fishers who appreciate a serene cabin in the woods. The lower section of the Livojoki River is also suitable for casting. The fishing area begins from Lake Livojärvi in Posio and runs to the Upper Lehmikoski Rapids in Lake Pudasjärvi. The permit area also includes the Mäntyjoki River. In total, this permit covers
approximately 40 km of clear fishing waters.

The upper section of Livojoki from Lake Livojärvi to the Kuusenpukka cabin (approx. 9 km) is a fly fishing area where only traditional fly fishing equipment is allowed. This fly fishing area contains the Niskakoski, Pitkäkoski, Mustakoski and Saarikoski rapids.

Between Kuusenpukka cabin and Jokipolvi cabin lays the 7 km long Pyydyssuvanto stream pool. Midway of the stream pool stands the idyllic Isoperä wilderness cabin. Pyydyssuvanto is home to large, native whitefish as well as pike and perch. From the wilderness cabin onwards, rapids and calm sections alternate in quick succession. This area of the river also has the Haarainniemi rental cabin. Below this cabin, Livojoki River is joined by Mäntyjoki River, which is also a part of the permit area. Mäntyjoki River has native grayling and trout stocks. The river is also stocked with fry-sized trout. The stocking of catch-sized trout was discontinued when the minimum catch size was raised to 60cm.
