Juutuanjoki, Alakoski 1527

Permit area 1527 Juutuanjoki, Alakoski will partially replace the former angling permit area 1578 Juutuanjoki. There are five other permit areas replacing the former zones of Juutuanjoki. These permit areas are:

The Juutuanjoki River (Juvduujuuhâ in Sami) runs into Lake Inarijärvi in the middle of the village of Inari after flowing for 12 kilometres from Lake Solojärvi. The river is one of the most renowned fly fishing destinations in our country thanks to its breath-taking scenery and the especially sizable trout specimens rising upstream from Lake Inarijärvi. The Juutuanjoki River is also an excellent grayling river.

The permit area 1527 Juutuanjoki, Alakoski starts where the road E75 crosses the Juutuanjoki River and ends at the upstream of Alakoski in the Juutuanjoki River.

Permits for 2024 become available on 9 April 2024 at 9 a.m.

Purchasing a permit

If you are ordering a permit for more than one person by phone, make sure that you have the addresses and birth dates of all the persons at hand when you make the call. This ensures that the purchase transaction will not be interrupted.

NUMBER OF PERMITS

The number of angling permits in the Juutuanjoki, Alakoski permit area is limited. Please check the availability of permits prior to your trip.

A total of 312 fishing days are available for sale in this angling permit area. A maximum of four (4) persons can purchase an angling permit for the same day.

In August, between 1 and 31 August, fishing is only allowed from Thursday at noon (12 PM) until Sunday at noon (12 PM).

PERMIT PRICE AND VALIDITY

The angling permit for Juutuanjoki, Alakoski costs 25 euros per 24 hours.

Validity begins always at 12:00 PM.

Persons under 18 years of age can buy the angling permit at half price.

Persons under 15 years of age may fish under the angling permit and within the fishing quota of an adult belonging to the same party, without needing to purchase an angling permit of their own.

Permit terms for the area

Exceptions to the fishing period

In August, between 1 and 31 August, fishing is only allowed from Thursday at noon (12 PM) until Sunday at noon (12 PM).

Fishing gear, bait and waste

Lures and flies are permitted.

In the municipalities of Upper Lapland (incl. the Juutuanjoki, Alakoski angling permit area) it is prohibited to use bait fish when hook and line fishing, ice fishing or lure fishing. This is to prevent the spread of the Gyrodactylys salaris parasite. To prevent the spread of other parasites, it is recommended to bury the waste after gutting the fish you have caught.

In order to prevent the spread of the Gyrodactylus salaris parasite and Canadian waterweed (Elodea canadensis), fishing gear brought from outside to the Juutuanjoki, Alakoski angling permit area must be completely dry. It is also recommended to disinfect fishing gear at disinfection points before starting fishing. Fishing gear can be disinfected

  • at the SEO service station in Ivalo and
  • at Inari fish harbour in Inari.

These actions to stop the Gyrodactylys salaris parasite are based on the decree by the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Watercraft

The use of a boat is prohibited.

Catch quotas

The maximum number of fish that an angler may catch is indicated in the table below:

There is no fishing quota limit for other fish species.

Catch sizes and protection periods

The following catch sizes and protection periods for fish species are in effect for this permit area:

*During the protection period of trout, all fishing in the permit area is prohibited.

Fishers must observe the catch sizes and protection periods mandated in the Fishing Decree for other fish species.

Water temperature has a significant impact on the survival of salmonids after they are released. When water temperatures approach +20 °C, you should use judgement before you decide to fish for salmonids. In waters warmer than this, fishing for salmonids should be avoided. In such situations, it is advisable to focus on species that are more resistant to heat, such as zander, pike and perch. See guidelines for responsible fishing.
