The Valkjärvi group camp in the northern part of Repovesi National Park is intended as a base for camps and events. The reservation group camp is a recommended option for large groups when you want to have space, peace and privacy for camping or an event. The group camp also includes a camping hut that offers protection from the weather and, if necessary, is also suitable for overnight stays. 1,5 hectare forest yard defined by fences and the facilities in the yard are in tenants use only and suitable for camping.
Creating a user account is worthwhile. As a logged-in customer, you do not need to pay for your reservation immediately. You can also cancel unpaid reservations yourself. Create a user account.
Tip: If you reserve huts for multiple trips, make separate orders for each trip. This way, you can choose to pay for each trip's reservation only 14 days before the start of the reservation. Changes won't be made to reservations made from May 5, 2025.
The reservation day for shared rental huts, rental huts and other rental structures begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment to the hut.
By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.
The use of the hut and other structures for business operations requires a permit from Metsähallitus. Learn about transfer of rights of use (metsa.fi).

Every fishing and hunting area and hut has a page with a map window that shows the location of the destination. In case of permit areas, you can see the borders of the area. Did you know that you can choose what and how information is displayed on the map?
The camp area is located right next to Kaakkurinkierros hiking trail.
The closest bus stop is in Lapinsalmi, approximately 7 km from the Valkjärvi group camp.
The best public transport connections from early summer to autumn.
Read more about the area and more detailed arrival instructions on Nationalparks.fi.
Nearest parking areas is Saarijärvi parking area (approximately 1,5 kms to Valkjärvi, access to the group camp is by trails, the road leading to the group camp is closed with a barrier), Kuismantie 990, Kouvola (Road 368). Space for approximately 60 cars. During the winter maintenance period, the parking area may be smaller.
The renter of the area may drive one vehicle to the Valkjärvi reservation camp area if needed. The vehicle must stay in the campsite for the duration of the reservation and must not be used anywhere other than on the road section between the Saarijärvi boom and the campsite. Apply for the vehicle permit well in advance, at the latest 5 days before the start of the lease period. You can send a free-form application with a short explanation to luontoon@metsa.fi.
Please note that depending on the winter conditions, the frost heave may last up to mid-May in the spring and prevent you from reaching the campsite. The last forest road section leading to Valkjärvi (approx. 300 m) does not have winter maintenance.
Campfire site and a picnic table.
Locked woodshed, firewood and an axe.
A traditional cellar.
A pier.
A cooking and dishwashing shelter.
A compost.
An accessible outhouse (non-compostable), please bring own toilet paper.
The key is in a key code box on the hut wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
Always keep the keys inside the key box, so they won’t get lost or locked inside the hut.
A wood-heated stove in the hut. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
A wood-heated stove in the hut.
Coffee and tea pots.
Five pots and pan for stove and for campfire.
Buckets and canisters for clean and waste water and dish washing.
Drinking water well is located right next to the yard.

A compost for food scraps and other bio-degradable waste.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
In the Valkjärvi yard area, mobile phone coverage is best in the field between the toilets and the woodshed.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
