Pettäisen kämppä (20 m²) is a cosy log-built rental hut, peacefully located in a beautiful setting on the shore of Lake Pettäinen in the Keihäsjoki old-growth forest conservation area, where access is allowed under Finland’s Everyman’s Rights.
The access road leads all the way to the hut. There is a well in the yard; the water is recommended to be boiled before use. The yard also features a picnic table with benches and a dry toilet. By the shore there is a campfire site, a sauna, a swimming jetty and a boat.
A rental hut is a place for an overnight stay that can be rented for only your use.

Make all reservations under the same order if you book several huts or other sites for the same trip. According to the reservation terms, the minimum refundable amount per order is €30.

By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.
When a company regularly takes its customers to destinations with hiking infrastructure maintained by Metsähallitus, it must have a cooperation agreement. Read more in the information bank for entrepreneurs.

The terms of reservation for short-term rental facilities managed by Parks & Wildlife Finland (including reservable and rental huts, bookable saunas and cooking shelters) are being updated. The new terms of reservation will come into force on Tuesday, 24 March 2026. They apply to all existing bookings.
Access to the hut is from Road 75 via Hirvivaarantie and Panjantie, then turning onto Petäisentie (signposted by Metsähallitus).
The hut can be reached by car in summer. The last kilometre of the road is passable, but there may be potholes and a raised centre ridge in places. The road is not maintained in winter.
The nearest bus stop is on the Kuopio–Nurmes road, approximately 15 km away.
In the yard there is a well, a campfire site, a lakeside sauna, a jetty, a boat with life jackets, a dry toilet and a composter.
Camping or any other overnight stay outdoors is not permitted in the hut yard or elsewhere within the nature reserve.
The yard and its buildings are for the exclusive use of the renter.
The key is in a key code box on the site's wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
The hut has a stove and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
The hut has no electricity. We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
A gas stove and a gas refrigerator are provided, along with cooking utensils and tableware.
There is no running water in the hut.
There is a well at the rental hut, but the water quality is not tested annually. It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. Water quality is not tested.
If you notice blue‑green algae (thl.fi), do not use lake water or swim in the lake.
Drink water taken directly from nature at your own risk.
See tips on how to obtain safe drinking water on a hike (luontoon.fi).
Sleeping places for four people (two bunk beds), with mattresses, duvets and pillows provided.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.
In summer, to ensure undisturbed sleep, it is recommended to bring a mosquito net that fits over a sleeping bag.
There is a lakeside sauna in the yard.
Water must be carried to the sauna. The water tank on the stove must be filled before heating the sauna.
There is a dry toilet near the site. Please bring your own toilet paper.
There is a waste sorting point in the yard.
The rental hut does not have accessible services.
Firewood, gas and washing‑up liquid are included in the equipment.
Household paper, toilet paper, spices, matches, lamp oil and candles are not provided.
Smoking is prohibited.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
Huts are equipped with smoke detectors, but we recommend that you bring your own smoke detector. An increasing number of huts have smoke detectors with long-life batteries that cannot be replaced by visitors. The battery is replaced by the hut maintenance staff.
Each user of the site is responsible for keeping the site clean. The site does not have regular maintenance.
Please note that Metsähallitus sites are wilderness‑like and modest, and the indoor areas may contain, for example, insects, rodents, and their droppings.
