Mäntysalonkämppä rental hut (a large common room, one bedroom and a kitchen) is situated on the eastern shore of Mäntysalo Island on the northern end of Kolovesi National Park. The hut, an old loggers' cabin built in 1940, was restored for its current purpose in 2006-2007. The Mäntysalonkämppä hut is situated on an island, and tenants must arrange passage from the mainland to the island independently. A 1.7 km connecting path runs from the hut to the Mäntysalo nature trail. The Mäntysalo nature trail is 3.8 km long. There is also a sauna in the yard.
A rental hut is a place for an overnight stay that can be rented for only your use.
Creating a user account is worthwhile. As a logged-in customer, you do not need to pay for your reservation immediately. You can also cancel unpaid reservations yourself. Create a user account.
Tip: If you reserve huts for multiple trips, make separate orders for each trip. This way, you can choose to pay for each trip's reservation only 14 days before the start of the reservation. Changes won't be made to reservations made from May 5, 2025.
The reservation day for shared rental huts, rental huts and other rental structures begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment to the hut.
By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.

Every fishing and hunting area and hut has a page with a map window that shows the location of the destination. In case of permit areas, you can see the borders of the area. Did you know that you can choose what and how information is displayed on the map?
The hut is accessible from the south by canoe, rowing boat or electric motor boat. Motor boats with internal combustion engine may not enter the southern part of Kolovesi National Park. The hut is approximately 17 km away from the Käkövesi guidance and boat launching site and approximately 9 km from the Kirkkoranta guidance and boat launching site.
From the north, the hut is accessible from the boat route, the so-called Heinävesi route across the northern part of the national park. The hut is approximately 2.5 km away from the route. From the north, the hut is also accessible by motor boat.
It is about 15 km from the municipality of Enonkoski to the boat launching place of Käkövesi, where there is an information board with a map. The way is signposted from the centre of Enonkoski, from where you need to continue in the road no 471 to the ferry over Hanhivirta and onto the fork of the road going to Käkövesi boat launching place, where there is a brown and white sign to Kolovesi National Park Käkövesi. There is a parking area at Käkövesi boat launching place. Parking area is not ploughed in winter.
The Kirkkoranta guidance and boat launching site is also accessible from road no. 471. Kirkkoranta is 25 km from Enonkoski, approximately 23 km from Savonranta and around 30 km from Heinävesi. A sign for the Kolovesi National Park stands at the crossroads for Kirkkoranta. There is a parking area at the end of the road.
The Kolovesi National Park is not accessible by public transport and there are no regular bus services to the park. Some bus services run to Enonkoski from Savonlinna and Heinävesi. Always check the timetables (matkahuolto.fi). Enonkoski is about 33 km from Savonlinna and 55 km from Heinävesi.

A campfire site, a sauna, a well and a dry toilet in the yard.
There is a jetty for boats and canoes/kayaks by the shore. Water by the shore deepens quickly.
Camping in the yard is not allowed.
The key is in a key code box on the hut wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
The hut has a wood-burning stove in the kitchen-living room and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm. No basic heating.
There are candles and battery-powered lanterns at the hut for lighting.
We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
Gas stove and fridge, cooking utensils and tableware for 16 people.
There is no running water in the hut.
There is a well in the yard. The quality of the water in the well has been analysed and boiling is recommended before using it as drinking water.
There is accommodation for 10 people in bunk beds in the common room, four in the bedroom. Mattresses, blankets and pillows.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag and towels.
The lakeside sauna is wood-burning.
There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.
There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).
There is a “well” for greywater at the western end of the outbuilding.
The Kirkkoranta waste collection point has containers for metal, mixed waste and clear and coloured glass.
In the winter, 1.1.-30.4., it is forbidden to enter any of the islands (including Mäntysalo) in the park.
There are no accessible services in the hut.
Please clean the hut before you leave.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
