Sorsasalo-Ahveninen's unified hunting area, which is mostly used for forestry, is located next to the city of Varkaus and is shared by three municipalities. The characteristic feature of the area is the rockiness of the terrain. The Kivimäensalo Nature Reserve is located in the middle of the hunting area as a counterbalance to commercial forests.
The forest road network is comprehensive and the roads are in good condition. The area is easily accessible, and the driving distance from Kuopio, for example, is not very long. The area is also a popular local recreation destination for foragers and outdoor enthusiasts.

The wording of the terms is clarified, and the new structure better reflects the customer journey in the Eräluvat.fi service. The terms also specify how and where customers can place an order, how they benefit from logging in during the ordering process, and whom to contact in case of problems or changes.
There are hunting restrictions in this permit area.
The hunting area includes the Kivimäensalo Nature Conservation Area (204/2019 Finnish Government Decree on the nature reserves of the province of South Savo). In this area, hunting is restricted in terms of game species and hunting seasons.
Also the small predator permit includes restrictions on keeping a dog off-leash.
