Fishing permit areas renewed: learn about the changes
At the turn of the year, five large angling permit areas were redistributed into 52 new permit areas. In addition, the boundaries of trap fishing permit areas were revised.
Trap permit area
6074 Puruvesi, state-owned waters
This permit area covers public water areas in Puruvesi: Enanselkä, Harvanselkä, Rauvitsanselkä and Hummonselkä. Also state-owned water areas in Kokonselkä, Laukanlahti and Kyhärä in Puruvesi, and Hytermi and Kömpyränniemi in Kerimäki belong to this permit area. The total size of the permit area is 9,220 hectares.

The wording of the terms is clarified, and the new structure better reflects the customer journey in the Eräluvat.fi service. The terms also specify how and where customers can place an order, how they benefit from logging in during the ordering process, and whom to contact in case of problems or changes.

Trap restrictions to protect Saimaa ringed seal
A large percentage of the trap permit area falls within the Saimaa ringed seal conservation area, where certain types of fishing gear are prohibited. This restricted area is marked on the permit area map. Familiarize yourself with the fishing regulations of the area for 2021-2026 (finlex.fi) (in Finnish).
Permits needed for fishing
Trap fishing in this permit area always requires a trap permit. You will also be required to pay the fisheries management fee, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or are 65 years of age or older as of 31 December 2023.
