For many hunters, this Central Finland location is remembered for the whistling of hazel grouse nesting in the shoreline trees. The terrain in Mäkelä is easy to navigate and well suited also for those hunting without a dog. The site complements the dense network of small game hunting areas in the surrounding region.

The wording of the terms is clarified, and the new structure better reflects the customer journey in the Eräluvat.fi service. The terms also specify how and where customers can place an order, how they benefit from logging in during the ordering process, and whom to contact in case of problems or changes.
The beaver and small predator permit includes restrictions on keeping a dog off-leash.

As part of the MetsäpeuraLIFE project, a seven-hectare forest reindeer habituation farm has been built in the Mäkelä permit area around Virkalampi Pond, on the southwest side of the Aittosuo mire. Forest reindeer born in zoos are brought to the habituation farm for a few months before they are released into the wild. The public has free admission to the habituation farm, but there is no campsite or other service structures. The fence is protected by an electric fence. The habituation of the forest reindeer and their return to the wild do not affect the hunting practices of the permit area.
