Vasaköngäs recreational fishing area is a section of the Kairijoki River's main channel. Vasaköngäs is situated in the Kairijoki River some 3.5 km upstream of the Kairiver Wilderness Centre. The fishing area begins 600 metres north of Murkinahauta cooking shelter and ends in Järviselänpalo. The permit area is approximately 2.5 km long.
Only fly fishing gear can be used when fishing in Vasaköngäs permit area. The limits of the area are marked in the terrain with blue fly fishing signs.
1 June – 31 October.

The number of angling permits is limited. Please check the availability of permits beforehand. Maximum of eight people can purchase an angling permit for the same day in this permit area.
Validity begins always at 6:00 PM.
In this permit area, you will need an angling permit for all types of fishing. You will also be required to pay the fisheries management fee, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or are 65 years of age or older as of 31 December 2023.
