Fishing permit areas renewed: learn about the changes
At the turn of the year, five large angling permit areas were redistributed into 52 new permit areas. In addition, the boundaries of trap fishing permit areas were revised.
The permit covers state-owned water areas in Finland's third biggest lake, Lake Inarijärvi, and in Lake Ukonjärvi and Lake Nitsijärvi.
There are over 3,000 islands in this big lake, which is suitable for wilderness lovers.

The wording of the terms is clarified, and the new structure better reflects the customer journey in the Eräluvat.fi service. The terms also specify how and where customers can place an order, how they benefit from logging in during the ordering process, and whom to contact in case of problems or changes.
The number of trap permits is limited. Please check the availability of permits beforehand.
It is recommended to focus on net fishing whitefish at Lake Inarijärvi. When fishing whitefish, the recommendation is to use shallow nets with thin twines. Avoid net fishing in areas where there are trout fry. Avoid fishing in the vicinity of stationary traps (such as fyke nets or shallow nets) in use.

Trap fishing in this permit area always requires a trap permit. You will also be required to pay the fisheries management fee, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or are 65 years of age or older as of 31 December 2023.
The trap permit for this area only entitles you to fish waters marked in the map window on this page / specified in the permit terms. Always check water area-specific trapping restrictions, protected areas and any other instructions in the permit terms.
The permit entitles the holder to fish in Metsähallitus’s water areas in Lakes Inarijärvi, Ukonjärvi and Nitsijärvi.
