Bookings for rental huts for 2027 open on May 5th at Eraluvat.fi
Bookings of rental and shared rental huts, as well as other sites available for booking for 2027, will open on Tuesday May 5th 2026 at 9:00am on Eraluvat.fi.
Poika-aho rental hut (2 rooms) is located in Pyhä-Häkki National Park and is a former crown forest croft. The house stands at the edge of a small field, and on one side of the yard runs a quiet sand road. There are toilets along the sand road. The road is only drivable in summer.
A rental hut is a place for an overnight stay that can be rented for only your use.
Make all reservations under the same order if you book several huts or other sites for the same trip. According to the reservation terms, the minimum refundable amount per order is €30.
Make reservations under separate orders if you book huts or other sites for several different trips. Managing separate reservations is easier, and you will receive a separate due date for each one, 14 days before the start of the reservation.
The reservation day for shared rental huts, rental huts and other rental structures begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.
Keep the order confirmation of your paid reservation with you. Check the information related to keys in the "Keys" section (located halfway down the page).
By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.
When a company regularly takes its customers to destinations with hiking infrastructure maintained by Metsähallitus, it must have a cooperation agreement. Read more in the information bank for entrepreneurs.
Poika-aho is one of the sheep herding sites managed by Metsähallitus' Nature Services. The cabin is reserved for the use of sheep herders from the end of May to early September.

Parking is available at a lay-by next to the gate. Driving into the yard is not allowed.
Note: The road is not maintained in winter.
The cabin is not accessible by bus. The nearest bus connections are to Saarijärvi and Viitasaari, located 22 km and 39 km from the national park.
Explore the area and find detailed arrival instructions at Luontoon.fi.
The yard and its buildings are for the exclusive use of the renter.
The key is in a key code box on the site's wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
The main source of heat is a large open fireplace equipped with a grill rack and a hook. Firewood is available in the hut for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Note that warming up the hut takes time.
In cold weather, the open fireplace may not provide sufficient heat, so we recommend bringing warm clothing and sleeping bags.
The hut has no electricity. We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
Gas stove, dishes, and tableware for five people.
There is no running water in the hut.
A drilled well is located next to the sauna.
Beds, mattresses, duvets, and pillows for 5 people.
Please bring your own sheets or a sleeping bag and a towel.
Wood-heated sauna in a separate building.
There is a dry toilet near the site. Please bring your own toilet paper.
There are no waste containers by the site. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (luontoon.fi).
The hut does not have accessible services.
Please clean the hut before you leave.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
Huts are equipped with smoke detectors, but we recommend that you bring your own smoke detector. An increasing number of huts have smoke detectors with long-life batteries that cannot be replaced by visitors. The battery is replaced by the hut maintenance staff.
Each user of the site is responsible for keeping the site clean. The site does not have regular maintenance.
Please note that Metsähallitus sites are wilderness‑like and modest, and the indoor areas may contain, for example, insects, rodents, and their droppings.
Maintenance and Management: Metsähallitus, Parks & Wildlife Finland.
If you notice that anything requires maintenance, kindly let us know: luontoon.fi/en/feedback.
Please note that there may be maintenance visits to the hut during your reservation. These visits are carried out during the daytime, usually between 12:00 and 14:00.
