This beautifully restored Näränkä Wilderness Farm Rental Hut farmyard is located in southern Kuusamo in the Näränkä Natural Forests area. The Näränkä wilderness farm serves as a nature and heritage site, showcasing the surrounding nature and protected areas, as well as the life and activities of a remote farm that lived off the land. Additionally, the farm guides hikers trekking in the area. The aim is also to protect and maintain the traditional and cultural landscape, as well as to preserve the traditional forms of work associated with the farm's way of life.
You can book the main building (3 rooms and an open space upstairs) and the sauna but otherwise the farmyard is available to everybody. The Näränkä wilderness farm is not rented in the winter.
A rental hut is a place for an overnight stay that can be rented for only your use.
Make all reservations under the same order if you book several huts or other sites for the same trip. According to the reservation terms, the minimum refundable amount per order is €30.
Make reservations under separate orders if you book huts or other sites for several different trips. Managing separate reservations is easier, and you will receive a separate due date for each one, 14 days before the start of the reservation.
The reservation day for shared rental huts, rental huts and other rental structures begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.
Keep the order confirmation of your paid reservation with you. Check the information related to keys in the "Keys" section (located halfway down the page).
By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.
When a company regularly takes its customers to destinations with hiking infrastructure maintained by Metsähallitus, it must have a cooperation agreement. Read more in the information bank for entrepreneurs.
For reservations related to school camps and nature education, a lower usage fee may be charged compared to other renters.

The remote Näränkä Nature Reserve is located at a distance of about 60 km from Kuusamo.
The closest villages are Kurvinen, Teeriranta, Hossa (30 km) and Murtovaara.
From the Kuusamo direction, you can reach Näränkä via highway 5 (E63) through the village of Murtovaara.
From the Suojärvi parking area, drive on the Murtovaarantie road (8421) for 27 kilometres and turn left onto the Korpivaarantie road, then follow the signs for Näränkä for 14 kilometres.
There is a 1-km-trail to the farm from the Suojärvi parking area. In winter, you can reach the hut on skis or snowshoes.
Please note that the roads in the area are not ploughed in winter.
Read more about the area and more detailed arrival instructions on Luontoon.fi.
The yard area of Närängän wilderness farm includes a main building, a sauna, and a cellar that are for the exclusive use of the renter.
Additionally, the yard area has a granary, a drying barn, sheds, a campfire site, a dry toilet, and a well.
The campfire site is for public use.
The key is in a key code box on the site's wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
The hut has a baking oven in the main room, tiled stoves in the bedrooms, a wood-burning stove in the kitchen and a gas hobs. There is also firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm. Having lit the fire, do not leave the ovens unattended.
The ovens may smoke if the chimneys are damp and the ovens have not been used for a long time. Burn dry paper in the flues before lighting a fire in the oven.
The hut has gaslights and separate instructions for using the gaslights.
The hut has no electricity. We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
A wood-burning stove and gas hobs as well as crockery for 50 people in the kitchen.
There is no running water in the hut.
There is a well in the yard but it is advisable to bring drinking water with you if there has been rainfall.
There are total of 7-11 beds indoors: beds/mattresses (10 pcs), pillows (5 pcs), blankets (15 pcs).
20 people can be accommodated for an overnight stay upstairs in the attic (50 m2).
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.
Sauna in the yard with washing room and a chamber.
There is a dry toilet near the site. Please bring your own toilet paper.
There are no waste containers by the site. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (luontoon.fi).
There are no accessible services in the hut.
Please clean the hut before you leave. If the main building and sauna have not been properly cleaned, a cleaning fee of 100 euros will be charged to the customer.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
Huts are equipped with smoke detectors, but we recommend that you bring your own smoke detector. An increasing number of huts have smoke detectors with long-life batteries that cannot be replaced by visitors. The battery is replaced by the hut maintenance staff.
Each user of the site is responsible for keeping the site clean. The site does not have regular maintenance.
Please note that Metsähallitus sites are wilderness‑like and modest, and the indoor areas may contain, for example, insects, rodents, and their droppings.
