Nammalakuru shared rental hut is a demanding wilderness destination. The hut is not accessible during the thaw. The hut is located along the Hetta–Pallas summer trail in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, set in open fell landscapes. The hut provides beds for hikers and skiers who appreciate overnight comfort and are prepared to share the space with others. The busiest times are around Easter and during the autumn "ruska" season. In spring, it can be accessed via maintained ski trails, but at other times, reaching it requires good navigation skills due to demanding and variable weather conditions, with only a few hours of daylight during winter. On the other side of the building, there is an open wilderness hut for 20 people, and the huts share a drying room with a wood stove.
A shared rental hut is a reservable place for an overnight stay where you can book a paid bed for 1–2 nights.
Creating a user account is worthwhile. As a logged-in customer, you do not need to pay for your reservation immediately. You can also cancel unpaid reservations yourself. Create a user account.
Tip: If you reserve huts for multiple trips, make separate orders for each trip. This way, you can choose to pay for each trip's reservation only 14 days before the start of the reservation. Changes won't be made to reservations made from May 5, 2025.
Ensure a safe trip to the hut. Read the checklist.
The reservation day for shared rental huts and rental huts begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment to the hut.
By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.
The use of the hut and other structures for business operations requires a permit from Metsähallitus. Learn about transfer of rights of use (metsa.fi).
Reservable huts are meant for those travelling by foot, skis or other means of physical movement (not motorized vehicles).

Every fishing and hunting area and hut has a page with a map window that shows the location of the destination. In case of permit areas, you can see the borders of the area. Did you know that you can choose what and how information is displayed on the map?
The shared rental hut is situated by the Hetta-Pallas summer trail, 42 km from Hetta and 13 km from Pallas.
In spring, it can be accessed via maintained ski trails, but at other times, reaching it requires good navigation skills due to demanding and variable weather conditions, with only a few hours of daylight during winter.
Read more about the area and more detailed arrival instructions on Nationalparks.fi.
There are campfire sites, a dry toilet and a wood shed.
There are plenty of campsites on the grounds.
When planning camping with a large group of over 10 people, fill in a notification for Metsähallitus (metsa.fi).
The key is in a key code box on the hut wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
The hut has a wood-burning stove and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
The hut has no electricity. We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
A gas stove and basic cookware (pot, frying pan, coffee pot).
There are no spoons, forks or other utensils in the hut.
There is no running water in the hut.
The water supply point, a stream, is 100 metres from the hut. It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. Water quality is not tested. Drink water taken directly from nature at your own risk.
See tips on how to obtain safe drinking water on a hike (Nationalparks.fi).
Bunk beds, matresses, blankets and pillows.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.
A shared rental hut is a shared overnight accommodation where hikers sleep in the same space, usually shoulder-to-shoulder in bunk beds.
There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.
There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).
Recycling points can be found at Pallastunturi, Fell Lapland Visitor Centre and Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas.
The firewood should only be used for heating the huts. Making campfires outdoors is prohibited if the hut does not have an official campfire site.
Please clean the hut before you leave.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
