There are different accommodation and other services available nearby at the Koirasalmi Nature Information Hut.

Permit terms

Permit terms for the area

Calendar year. Fishing at Heikinlampi is not allowed between 10/06 00:00 and 12/06 15:00 (Angling Day 2021).

What does the permit entitle the holder to

All visitors fishing in the Kaunislampi angling permit area must obtain the angling permit:

Fishing at Kaunislampi and Ahvenlampi requires Kaunislampi 6567 angling permit.

Fishing at Heikinlampi requires Kaunislampi 6567 angling permit or Koirajärvi-Heikinlampi combination permit.

As general fishing rights do not apply within the Kaunislampi 6567 angling permit area, it is prohibited to fish there with a lure under a fisheries management fee as well as fish with a rod and line (hook and line fishing), and through a hole in the ice in wintertime (ice fishing), unless the angler has obtained an angling permit. The Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY) has issued the decision on restricting general fishing rights.

The permit allows lure fishing (lure, fly, jig), angling, and ice fishing.

Fishing gear and bait

During open water season, an angler may use one (1) rod with one line that is either in hand or nearby (max. 2 metres away). The rod may not be left alone for fishing.

When fishing from the ice, an angler can use a maximum of two (2) rods, each of them with one line. One of these rods can be passive, which means that the angler is not holding the rod in his/her hand. If the angler between 18 and 64 years of age is fishing from the ice and has one active and one passive rod, the angler must pay the fisheries management fee.

The use of all types of artificial lures (lure, fly, jigg) and natural baits (grubs, shrimp, bait paste, etc.) is permitted in Kaunislampi angling permit area.

Using harpoon and dive fishing are prohibited.

Watercraft

The use of a boat or flotation device is prohibited.

Catch quotas and catch reports

The size of the catch quota depends on the validity of the permit. The maximum number of fish that an angler may catch is indicated in the table below:

permit validity Maximum catch
3 hours 1 rainbow trout
24 hours 3 rainbow trouts, with Koirajärvi-Heikinlampi combination permit* 3 trouts or rainbow trouts
7 days 2 rainbow trouts per day

*With combination permit it is allowed to catch total three (3) trouts or rainbow trouts from Koirajärvi and Heikinlampi (not three trouts or rainbow trouts from both waters).

There is no fishing quota limit for other fish species.

The 24-hour catch quota cannot be increased by purchasing several permits for the same 24-hour period.

Catch sizes and protection periods

Fishers must observe the catch sizes and protection periods mandated in the Fishing Decree.
