What does the permit entitle the holder to

All visitors fishing in Koirajärvi angling permit area must obtain Koirajärvi 6566 angling permit or Koirajärvi-Heikinlampi combination permit.

As general fishing rights do not apply within Koirajärvi angling permit area, it is prohibited to fish there with a lure under a fisheries management fee as well as fish with a rod and line (hook and line fishing), and through a hole in the ice in wintertime (ice fishing), unless the angler has obtained an angling permit. The Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY) of North Savo has issued the decision on restricting general fishing rights.

Koirajärvi 6566 angling permit grants the right for lure fishing with lure, fly or jig as well as for hook and line fishing and ice fishing.

Regional restrictions

Fishing from the shore is prohibited in a shore area on the southwest side of Lake Koirajärvi. The prohibition area is marked on the map of the permit area.

Fishing gear and bait

During the ice-free period, an angler may use one (1) rod with a single line. The rod must be held in the angler’s hand or be within reach at all times (no more than 2 metres away). The rod may not be left alone for fishing. When trolling lures or flies from a rowboat, an angler may use at maximum two (2) rods, each one with a single line.

When fishing from the ice, one angler can use at maximum two (2) rods, each one with a single line. One of these may be a passive rod (left alone for fishing). The passive rod may be no more than 10 metres away from the angler. To fish from the ice with one active and one passive rod, an angler aged between 18 and 69 years must pay the fisheries management fee. Fishers who have reached the age of 65 or more by 31 December 2023 are an exception: they do not have to pay the fisheries management fee.
