The sauna of Uittipiekka is located in Kemihaara Wilderness Reserve. Navigation skills are needed to get to the sauna. The sauna is not accessible during the thaw. There are an open wilderness hut and shared rental hut of Uittipiekka in the same yard.

Reservations
Creating a user account is worthwhile. As a logged-in customer, you do not need to pay for your reservation immediately. You can also cancel unpaid reservations yourself. Create a user account.
Notes for entrepreneurs: The use of the hut and other structures for business operations requires a permit from Metsähallitus. Learn about transfer of rights of use (metsa.fi).
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment.
Arrival instructions
The sauna is accessible only by foot or by skiing. Use of motor vehicles in the area is prohibited.
During the snow-free season, the shortest route to Uittipiekka hut is via Lokka. From Lokka, drive towards the River Pihtijoki, turn right at Mukkajoenrova and continue all the way to Taltukkaselkä. The cross-country hike from this point to the sauna is 6 km.
Alternatively, you can approach the sauna from Savukoski direction. Turn left at Ruuvaoja, drive past the north side of Nivatunturi Fell towards Marjavaara and continue to the foot of Sorvortantunturi Fell. From here, the cross-country hike to the sauna is 9 km.
The roads are forest roads that may be in poor condition.
In winter, you can reach Uittipiekka on skis from Kemihaara direction, where you will find the nearest road that is kept open. The distance to Uittipiekka from Kemihaara is approx. 23 km (no marked or maintained trails).

The sauna is always open.
Facilities
Heating and lighting: There is no electricity in the sauna. The sauna and washing water are heated with firewood. Bring a headlamp.
Washing: No running water. Washing water is taken from the nearby stream and heated in a water cauldron. There are wash basins in the sauna for cleaning. Bring your own towel.
Sauna schedule
The sauna is available for use by all hikers, so you should be considerate of others and not stay too long in the sauna.
During peak seasons you should agree bathing times with other hikers, for example, take turns between men and women at alternate hours.
The sauna cannot be reserved for private use.
