The Sommarö hut now serves as a service hut and is especially suitable as a support point for school camps and other groups.
The defence forces' depot and coastal artillery fort operated in this area from 1940 to 2000. The defence forces left behind a network of roads and trails, several house foundations, a pier, foundations for artillery pieces and bunkers. A monument has been erected to commemorate the operations of the coastal artillery fort. Of all the buildings, only the guard hut including some smaller building in the yard remain. The area incorporates a nature trail and a pier.

Reservations
Reservation times:
Arrival at 9:00 AM and departure at 9 PM.
The hut can be booked between 1.5 - 31.10.
Important to note:
Creating a user account is worthwhile. As a logged-in customer, you do not need to pay for your reservation immediately. You can also cancel unpaid reservations yourself. Create a user account.

The hut can be rented for only your use.
No overnight stays in the building. You can spend the night in your own tents in the yard.
Keep the order confirmation of your paid reservation with you.
Arrival instructions
The parking area of the Sommarö nature trail (luontoon.fi), Sommaröntie, 65930, Södra Vallgrund.
The road to the parking area and the parking lot are plowed, but be prepared for delays in case of heavy snowfall. Snow removal in the hut's yard is the responsibility of the renter.
Yard
Lean-to shelters, a campfire site, an outhouse with a dry toilet. Lean-to shelters and the fire place in the yard as well as the compost toilet in the outhouse can be used without reservation.

Instructions are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Facilities
Heating and lighting: Electricity.
Cooking: Electric stove, microwave, coffee and water kettle, kitchen utensils and cutlery for 22 people. Large refrigerator and freezer.
Drinking water: Municipal water system with potable water.
Toilet: Indoor shower and toilet. Outdoor dry toilet.
Waste disposal: There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Other things to keep in mind
Pets are not permitted inside the hut.
There is a wood-heated sauna in the yard. Water for washing must be carried in. There is a water heater next to the sauna stove. The sauna building also has a separate dressing room. The sauna has no electricity or electric lighting.
