Onninmaja rental hut (hallway, main room with open kitchen, and bedroom) is located by Lake Rautjärvi in Alinen in the Evo Hiking Area. The destination is a popular shepherd's week location in the summer. There is also a sauna in the yard.
A rental hut is a place for an overnight stay that can be rented for only your use.
Creating a user account is worthwhile. As a logged-in customer, you do not need to pay for your reservation immediately. You can also cancel unpaid reservations yourself. Create a user account.
Tip: If you reserve huts for multiple trips, make separate orders for each trip. This way, you can choose to pay for each trip's reservation only 14 days before the start of the reservation. Changes won't be made to reservations made from May 5, 2025.
The reservation day for shared rental huts, rental huts and other rental structures begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment to the hut.
By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.
The use of the hut and other structures for business operations requires a permit from Metsähallitus. Learn about transfer of rights of use (metsa.fi).

Every fishing and hunting area and hut has a page with a map window that shows the location of the destination. In case of permit areas, you can see the borders of the area. Did you know that you can choose what and how information is displayed on the map?
Arriving from the south, turn off the Lammi - Padasjoki road (no. 53), following the road signs to Evo. After you pass the Evo Centre (at the HAMK University of Applied Sciences), continue along the Opistontie road for roughly another 900 metres, then turn left. The track takes you all the way to the hut yard (it is the only left turn between the Evo Centre and the Lammi - Padasjoki road).
Arriving from the north along Opistontie, take the first right turn before the school.
You can drive directly to the hut yard. The hut's key fits the lock of the barrier on the road to the yard.
There are no bus connections to Evo. The closest bus stations are in Padasjoki and Lammi. Timetables (matkahuolto.fi).
Read more about the area and more detailed arrival instructions on Nationalparks.fi.
A sauna, firewood shelter, campfire site, cellar, well and dry toilet.
There is a connection trail that starts from the campfire site next to the hut and leads to the Ilvesvaellus Hiking Trail network.
Swimming possibility in the lake, by the sauna. The beach is gently sloping by the dock. There is no official beach.
A rowboat available for tenants.
Camping in the yard is prohibited.
The key is in a key code box on the hut wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
The hut has a wood-burning baking oven and a wood stove in the kitchen as well as a heating stove in the bedroom. There is also firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly.
The stove in the bedroom heats the room up very quickly. When using the baking oven in the kitchen, it is advisable to keep the fire burning low at first for the chimney to have time to warm up (no smoke inside). You must open the stove registers before heating! When setting fire up in the hearth, do not leave the fire unsupervised. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
The amenities include candle and oil lamp lighting.
The hut has no electricity. We recommend a head torch which leaves your hands free for sauna duties. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
A wood-burning baking oven, a wood stove and gas stove in the kitchen, tableware as well as cooking and serving utensils.
There is no running water in the hut.
There's a well with a hand pump at the Onninmaja rental hut. The well is located between the sauna and the shed in the yard.
The main room has two beds and the bedroom has two beds with matresses, blankets and pillows.
In the main room are three mosquito nets to use over the beds.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag and towels.
Sauna is in a separate building.
The sauna heats up quickly. One and a half furnace loads of wood are enough to heat the water tank.
There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.
The toilet is behind the shed and sauna.
There are waste containers by the cabin but visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).
The compost heap and waste container are placed by the parking space.
There are no accessible services in the hut.
Please clean the hut before you leave.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
