Bookings for rental huts for 2026 open on May 5th at Eraluvat.fi
Bookings of rental and shared rental huts, as well as other sites available for booking for 2026, will open on Monday May 5th 2025 at 9:00am on Eraluvat.fi.
The building on Mässkär Island that is now the Mässkär Nature Station shared rental hut used to be harbour pilots' and the coast guard's house. It has been renovated for the present use. Metsähallitus has rented the nature information station out to Mässkär lotstation rf, a local association which offers lodging and conference services and maintains a summer café there. The café is open during the station's opening hours.
This hut can only be rented through the below-mentioned company.

Every fishing and hunting area and hut has a page with a map window that shows the location of the destination. In case of permit areas, you can see the borders of the area. Did you know that you can choose what and how information is displayed on the map?
The closest harbours which can be reached by car are Ådö fishing harbour and Alholma harbour, which is where taxi boats depart from.
To get to Ådö fishing harbour from the centre of Pietarsaari Town take Skutnäsinkatu Road west and continue onto Kisorintie Road and then Ådöntie Road. There are signposts along this route directing visitors to the harbour.
To get to Alholma harbour from the centre of Pietarsaari Town take Pietarinpuistikko Road continue onto Ebba Brahen puistikko Road and finally take Alholmantie Road. There are signposts from the UPM-Kymmene Oyj parking area to the harbour.
There are boat launch ramps at both harbours.
There is a marked water route to the nature station.
There is water, electricity, shower/sauna, laundry room, dry toilet, cooking shelter, and recycling point at the harbour.
There are approximately 50 private summer cottages on the island.
The keys will be handed over on-site unless otherwise agreed.
The Mässkär Nature Station has electricity.

There is running water at the Nature Station.

The beds have mattresses, blankets and pillows, as well as bed linen, which are included in the overnight stay price.
A reservable sauna for 15 to 20 persons, shower and a fireplace room for 15 people.
Flush toilets, an accessible toilet and dry toilet.
There is a recycling point Roska-Roope (keepthearchipelagotidy.fi) at the Mässkär harbour.
There is a 1,4-km-long nature trail on the island.
There is an accessible toilet at the nature information station.
There is a road along which persons with wheelchairs can get from the harbour to the nature information station. There is a wheelchair ramp at the harbour along which those with wheelchairs can get into the summer café.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
Metsähallitus, Parks & Wildlife Finland is responsible for the maintenance of the hut.
If you notice any deficiencies at the cabin, please report them to the maintenance team so that we can react to them as quickly as possible.
