Licence terms

Regional licensing terms

1.1.–12.5. and 18.5. (12:00 noon) –31.12.
  • The permit grants the right to lure fishing (lure, fly, jig) in rapids and running waters and also to hook and line fishing and ice fishing in lakes.
  • All fishing in the area requires the Ruunaa angling permit (7525). General fishing rights (hook and line fishing, ice fishing, lure fishing under the fisheries management fee) do not apply at this destination, with the exception of Lake Neitijärvi and Pond Kattilalampi, by decision of the North Savo ELY Centre (POSELY/1901/5710/2016). The purpose of the decision is to secure the economic use of fish stocked into the area's waters.
  • Note! Only barbless hooks are allowed between 1.9.–30.11. During other times the use of barbless hooks is still recommended.
  • Note! The number of hooks is limited to three between 1.9.–30.11. The lure can have one treble hook, three single hooks or one single hook and one double hook.
  • The use of natural baits (grubs, worms, bait fish, bait paste, silicone balls, etc.) is prohibited in the rapids and other running waters (such as the area between Murroo and Siikakoski).
  • Each angler may use one rod and line, which must remain within the angler's reach at all times (max 2 metres away). When trolling without a motor, each angler is allowed 2 rods or lines. Leaving the rod to fish by itself is prohibited.
  • The use of a motor boat for fishing (trolling) is allowed in the Lake Välijärvi.  Anchoring a boat in the rapids is prohibited.
  • Wading is prohibited from 1.9 to 31.5.
  • Paasikoski–Mutikaisenkari: anglers are allowed to use both lures and flies, from the shore or from a boat. Fishing is completely prohibited in the stretch between Paasikoski and Mutikaisenkari from 1.9. to 30.11.
  • Neitikoski, Murrookoski and Siikakoski Rapids, Lakes Kattilajärvi and Murroojärvi: anglers are allowed to use both lures and flies, from the shore or from a boat. Anglers may also use natural baits when fishing in the lakes.
  • Lake Neitijärvi and Pond Kattilalampi: The angling permit for Southern Finland (7413) grants the right to fish in Neitijärvi and Kattilalampi. Lure fishing is also permitted in these waters with the payment of the fisheries management fee.

Catch quotas

1 grayling or 1 trout (without adipose fin) / day

Neitikoski, Murrookoski and Siikakoski Rapids, Lakes Kattilajärvi and Murroojärvi:

3 hour permit 1 salmonid
Day permit 3 salmonids / day
Week permit 2 salmonids / day
Season permit 2 salmonids / day

The right to fish ends when the angler has caught enough fish to fulfil the permit's fishing quota.

Once you have finished fishing, you must submit a catch report at All caught and released fish must also be reported.

Note! The angler can catch up to 3 salmonids / day(00:00-24:00), regardless of the type of permit or number of permits they have.

Catch sizes

  • Planted brown trout (without adipose fin) 40 cm. It is recommended that all trout with their adipose fin cut off are released back into the water between 1.9.–30.11.
  • Grayling 40 cm. Grayling is protected between 1.4.–31.5. In other times Metsähallitus recommends releasing all caught grayling.
  • Pike-perch 45 cm
  • Planted brown trout (without adipose fin) 40 cm
  • No minimum catch size for rainbow trout or whitefish.
  • Native brown trout that still have their adipose fin are protected throughout the year.
