Off-road traffic permit for the home municipality during the snow-free season in Enontekiö, Inari and Utsjoki.
Residents of Enontekiö, Inari and Utsjoki may apply for an off-road permit for the snow-free season to Metsähallitus. The permit covers established cross-country tracks on state-owned land in their municipality of residence. You can apply for an off-road permit electronically using the attached form. Applying for a permit requires strong Suomi.fi e-Identification with your online banking codes or a mobile certificate.
Permits are discretionary and always based on a justified need. Such needs may include fishing, transporting picked berries or craft materials and other uses of nature.
As a rule, off-road permits for the snow-free season are not granted for national parks and nature reserves. Still, a permit may be granted in exceptional circumstances if one of the following conditions is met:
Practising natural livelihoods
Accessing the waters of your own property for fishing; please indicate the registration number of the property in the application
Accessing a property in deviation from the easement if it is justified from the viewpoint of nature conservation; please indicate the registration number of the property in the application
Other justified need.
These exceptions may apply not only to Kevo Strict Nature Reserve but also to other nature reserves as long as the conditions are met.
Residents of Inari who permanently live in the Näätämö cadastral village may apply for an off-road permit for a justified need. The permit covers the cross-country tracks in the area in question referred to in the application form.
Permits are granted only for established cross-country tracks on state-owned land. As a rule, permits are granted for tracks near your home village and, for a justified reason, also for tracks further away. You can view the track charts while making the permit application in the Eraluvat.fi service and by visiting Metsähallitus’s customer service point in Fell Lapland Visitor Centre in Hetta and in Inari Church Village during their opening hours.
Permit decisions in the driver’s municipality of residence are always free of charge.
Please always take environmentally sensitive areas into consideration when moving around in nature.
