Tue Jan 28 04:00:00 2020

In 2019, Finns purchased fishing management fees more actively than in the previous year. By the end of the year, more than 254,000 fisheries management fees were purchased, of which more than 180,000 were annual permits. Such proceeds from fishing licences will maintain fishing opportunities and the aquatic environment.

Metsähallitus collects the fisheries management fees and credits them to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The proceeds are granted to plan and implement the sustainable use and management of fishing waters, monitor fishing activities, provide advisory services, fund activities in fisheries areas and pay owner compensation.

You can purchase a fisheries management fee for the whole year, week or day. The demand for short-term permits continued to increase last year:

"The popularity of short-term payments reflects a change in the sports angler community and people’s attitude towards fishing. Young people are more likely to purchase short-term permits, and they go fishing only on occasion, perhaps once or twice a year, "says Jukka Bisi, Director, Game and Fisheries Services at Metsähallitus.

The sale of fisheries management fees for 2020 began in November The fisheries management fee can be purchased on the Eräluvat.fi web shop, by calling our phone service on +358 (0)20 69 2424, at Metsähallitus permit service points or at R-kioski shops.
