Permits for 2023 become available on 18 April 2023 at 9 a.m.
The fishing and permit arrangements in this angling permit area change at the beginning of 2023. The area is divided into three zones where the permits are sold separately.
According to its name, Ounasjoki-Käkkälöjoki-Pöyrisjoki angling permit area covers sections of three rivers: Ounasjoki River, Käkkälöjoki River and Pöyrisjoki River.

There are 2000 fishing days available for Ounasjoki-Käkkälöjoki-Pöyrisjoki angling permit area.
ZONES AND NUMBER OF PERMITS
Zone 1 comprises Pöyrisjoki River from the slow-flowing section below Pyörisniva to Lake Pöyrisjärvi. Permit quota for this zone is 600 fishing days. There is no daily quota.
Zone 2 comprises the water areas in Käkkäläjoki River governed by Metsähallitus all the way to the mouth of Kallajoki River. Permit quota for this zone is 500 fishing days. There is no daily quota.
Zone 3 covers the water areas in Ounasjoki River governed by Metsähallitus all the way from the Kittilä municipal border to Lake Ounasjärvi. Permit quota for this zone is 900 fishing days. There is no daily quota.
Permit prices and validity
Ounasjoki-Käkkälöjoki-Pöyrisjoki angling permit costs 12 euros per 24 hours.
Persons under 18 years of age can buy the angling permit at half price.
Persons under 15 years of age may fish under the angling permit and within the fishing quota of an adult belonging to the same party, without needing to purchase an angling permit of their own.

Metsähallitus' fishing permits may also be purchased by phone. The service is open on
weekdays from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Permit terms for the area
1 June– 31 AugustThe following river sections are included in this angling permit area:
- Ounasjoki River from the municipal border of Enontekiö to Lake Ounasjärvi
- Käkkälöjoki River and Suukisjoki River up until the mouth of Kallajoki River
- Pöyrisjoki River from Lake Vuontisjärvi to Lake Pöyrisjärvi, Maaterjoki River and Hollojoki River.
Some river sections are private waters and they are not included in the permit area. Anglers must check the borders of the permit area on the permit area map on this page.
Ounasjoki-Käkkälöjoki-Pöyrisjoki 1556 angling permit does not entitle you to fish in other waters of the area. Those waters are included in angling permit area called Enontekiö Wilderness 1551.
Catch quotas
The maximum number of fish that an angler may catch is indicated in the table below:

There is no catch quota limit for other fish species.
Catch surveys are sent to anglers after the permit expires. All caught fish must be reported, also those that were released.

The following catch sizes and protection periods for fish species are in effect for this permit area:

* During the protection period of trout, all fishing in the permit area is prohibited.
Anglers must observe the catch sizes and protection periods specified in the Fishing Decree for other fish species.
