Simojoki, Ranua 2580

The Simojoki River is 180 km long and it begins in Lake Simojärvi in Ranua and runs into the Bay of Bothnia in Simo. The permit area covers the section of the Simojoki River that runs in Ranua from the border of the municipality of Simo to Lake Simojärvi. There is a separate permit for fishing in the Simojoki River on the Simo side of the municipal border, Simojoki, Simo 2581.

The Simojoki River is an ideal destination for fly fishing from the river banks. The most likely catches are grayling and pike, but in the lower reaches one might also find salmon returning from the sea.

The upper part reaches of the river run through serene wilderness while the lower part winds through a more cultural landscape. This makes the Simojoki River a great place for canoeing.
