Kaunislampi 6567

Three ponds with the same permit! A recreational fishing area in northern Central Finland, near Salamajärvi national park, where rainbow trout and whitefish can be fished. Especially Lake Heikinlampi has plenty of throwing space, where even the smallest fishers can easily practice the art of fishing. There are different accommodation and other services available nearby at Koirasalmi Nature Information Hut.

There is a new day permit available for the area, a Koirajärvi-Heikinlampi combination permit, which allows fishing on both Heikinlampi and Koirajärvi 6566 permit area. The combination permit does not allow fishing at the other waters of Kaunislampi 6567 permit area. Please familiarise yourself with the map of the permit area.

Purchasing a permit

In Kaunislampi angling permit area, the customer can choose between a 3-hour or 24-hour permit. The prices for angling permits are as follows:

Persons under 18 years of age pay half price for the angling permit.

Persons under 15 years of age may fish in a party with an adult under the adult's angling permit, with the same fishing quota, i.e. they do not require their own angling permit.

 A family may purchase a family permit, which costs twice as much and has a fishing quota twice as large as an individual angling permit. A family consists of children under 18 years of age and their parents or legal guardians as well as married and common-law couples.

Permit terms for the area

What does the permit entitle the holder to

All visitors fishing in Kaunislampi angling permit area must obtain the angling permit:

To fish in Kaunislampi and Ahvenlampi, you will need angling permit Kaunislampi 6567.

To fish in Heikinlampi, you will need angling permit Kaunislampi 6567 or a combination permit for Koirajärvi-Heikinlampi.

As general fishing rights do not apply within Kaunislampi 6567 angling permit area, it is prohibited to fish there with a lure under a fisheries management fee as well as fish with a rod and line (hook and line fishing), and through a hole in the ice in wintertime (ice fishing), unless you have purchased an angling permit. The Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY) has issued the decision on restricting general fishing rights.

Kaunislampi angling permit 6567 grants the right for lure fishing with lure, fly or jig as well as for hook and line fishing and ice fishing.

Fishing gear and bait

During the ice-free period, an angler may use one (1) rod with a single line. The rod must be held in the angler’s hand or be within reach at all times (no more than 2 metres away). The rod may not be left alone for fishing.

When fishing from the ice, one angler can use at maximum two (2) rods, each one with a single line. One of these may be a passive rod (left alone for fishing). The passive rod may be no more than 10 metres away from the angler. To fish from the ice with one active and one passive rod, an angler aged between 18 and 69 years must pay the fisheries management fee. Fishers who have reached the age of 65 or more by 31 December 2023 are an exception: they do not have to pay the fisheries management fee.

All types of artificial lures (lure, fly, jigg) as well as natural baits, such as worms, grubs, shrimps and bait paste, may be used in Kaunislampi angling permit area.

Using harpoon and dive fishing are prohibited.

Watercraft

The use of a boat or flotation device for fishing is prohibited.

Catch quotas

The size of the catch quota depends on the validity of the permit. The maximum number of fish that an angler may catch is indicated in the table below:

*With combination permit it is allowed to catch total three (3) trouts or rainbow trouts from Lakes Koirajärvi and Heikinlampi (not three trouts or rainbow trouts from both waters).

There is no fishing quota limit for other fish species.

The 24-hour catch quota cannot be increased by purchasing several permits for the same 24-hour period.

Catch sizes and protection periods

Fishers must observe the catch sizes and protection periods mandated in the Fishing Decree.

Services in the area

The permit area is situated near Salamajärvi National Park in the vicinity of Lake Koirajärvi. There is a network of trails with duckboards in the area as well as numerous campfire sites with lean-to shelters. There are also Ahvenlampi and Kaunislampi rental cabins.

Fisheries management

Catch-sized rainbow trout is stocked into the waters every 2-3 weeks between May and September. During the winter season plantings are conducted once or twice in Lakes Heikinlampi and Kaunislampi.
