Mon Oct 06 09:03:00 2014

The Metsähallitus map service Excursionmap.fi will soon be usable on mobile touchscreen devices, including the most common smartphones and tablets. In the form of the Excursionmap.fi service, the mobile version will be available in Finnish (m.retkikartta.fi), Swedish (m.utflyktskarta.fi) and English (m.excursionmap.fi.).

Demand for mobile access to excursion maps has been increasing. If this is a service that you have been waiting for, try it out next time you head into the forest, e.g. to pick mushrooms, and provide feedback (www.eraluvat.fi).

m.excursionmap.fi is a website optimised for mobile devices. The maps provided by the service cannot be downloaded and saved for offline use. When heading into the wilderness, please bear in mind that you will need access to the mobile network in order to use the map service. The map service is not intended for use, nor should it be used, as a replacement for map plotter software or a paper map and compass, or as your only navigation tool.
